I think healing traumas sustained by our other-selves or by ancestors (often, not always, interchangeable) is a key process for a lot of people and something I'm definitely focused on this go-round. I'm curious what something like this would look like in group-format?
Something like a formal Group-therapy for past-life traumas kind of makes sense, but also it might have a really step cliff for personal engagement, especially given how hard some of that stuff is to share without massive Imposter Syndrome hurdles around sounding silly.
That said, I'm interested and could probably really use it, with the right small group of people.
Yes yes yes, I so agree on all these things and the great questions you're bringing up! Thank you for sharing.
I think the fear of sounding silly is one of the main impediments to even discussing these things (even in the privacy of one's one head sometimes, and definitely with others). At least that's the case for me. It might be that we have collectively created the materialist judgment that "past-lives are nonsense" to prevent ourselves from even looking into these things. "Nothing to see here," so to speak.
My hunch is that that's precisely the reason why it might feel healing to share about it with others. We're social animals, after all.
Just like you, I'm also really curious what this would look like in a group format. :) Upon sitting it, I realize that what I would like to create would be less of a therapy thing and more of an open exploration and discovery... in part because I'm not a therapist so I want to be clear that what I'm offering is not therapy, in part because thinking of it as therapy can feel really heavy (when there can also be a real lightness to it, too).
One tool I've learned in my spiritual journey is something called "greenlighting." It's very hard to exactly convey what this means but the closest thing might be "unconditional acceptance of what's currently arising for the person we're greenlighting, all while holding the possibility for that to change at any moment." Bringing that form of loving presence to ourselves (our full selves, including whatever aspects of our soul we're connected with in other timelines/dimensions, etc.) can feel incredibly healing in itself.
I think that's because in some way, we are already whole, and our whole healing and awakening journey is about getting our conscious/limited self closer to the wholeness our infinite self experiences all the time.
One thing I've also played with (mostly within myself but I've also guided another person through this) is changing the past. Since time is in some sense an illusion, the past doesn't really exist. I've found that many "past lives" can be thought of as "parallel lives" which means we can influence them and even create a better outcome for ourselves.
So, for instance, in the past life I mentioned (whether that's an actual memory of something that happened or images my subconscious conjures to communicate what's going on), I was able to change the images to something positive. Which, in turn, enabled me to finally do things (such as writing this article) that I otherwise wouldn't have allowed myself to do.
So, whatever else this would entail, I would want the outcome to be that people are feeling more lightness and ease and joy and possibilities than before.
Thanks so much for giving me the chance to consider all these things!
