Should I Leave Social Media? A Channeled Perspective.
"Social Media strengthens mass consciousness."
This article is inspired by a question I am currently sitting with around my Social Media profiles.
I am considering deleting most of my Social Media profile—Instagram, Twitter/X, and Facebook. While I have already downloaded my archives, I haven’t yet hit the “delete my account” button.
Now, I haven’t even used these platforms in (literally) years. The people I talked to who deleted their Social Media profiles unanimously gave me a simple advice: “DO IT!” And, I can sense the relief I will get from taking that step. Even if I haven’t logged in to my accounts in such a long time, I still knew they are there. I’m still plugged into the current they are a part of, and it’s not a current that’s aligned with my highest good.
So why, then, do I feel hesitancy to just walk away from all of this?
So, I was asking Niv (the high-level guide I’m channeling) to provide me with their perspective on this situation. I will share their guidance below. Keep in mind that this is advice for me personally, so not all aspects of this might apply to other people.
However, if something in here resonates with you, that sense of resonance is your Higher Self/Soul guiding you in the direction of your truth.
And, as always, here’s something to keep in mind with channeled materials: You are responsible for making your own decisions, just as I am responsible for making mine. :)
Takeaways:
Social media strengthens mass consciousness. This places it (in most situations, not in all) in an uneasy relationship with individual wellbeing. For individual happiness requires finding the things that are uniquely suited to you.
Because social media is an expression of mass consciousness, it can feel scary to walk away. There is a sense of belonging that ties people to social media, and that makes them feel like they need permission to let it go. They don’t.
The world has moved on when it comes to social media—the Golden Age of Social Media is over. And, you have moved on as well. Your reluctance around deleting your social media profiles might come from wanting to hold on to the past.
While the Golden Age of Social Media is over, there will always be a demand for media that is social—for humans are social creatures.
Instead of social media, you would be better served by communal media (online places where you can commune with people who care about the same things are you). There are plenty of these available. (For me, these include Discord and Substack).
Social media is similar to interacting with a huge, totally random group of people in the physical world (as opposed to connecting with a select group of people who are on the same wavelength as you). You probably wouldn’t want to do that in the physical world so why do it in the online space?

Let us reframe your question where you inquired about the impact of social media in our lives, for this is a question that can only be answered on the individual level.
It is true that if seen from a higher perspective, the impacts of social media are probably more negative than positive. And in part this is because social media strengthens mass consciousness and individual happiness requires certain liberation from the constraints of mass consciousness, finding the things that are aligned with your true nature.
So in general, all things being equal, it is more likely that social media has a negative than a positive impact, which is not to say that this is always the case and for everyone.
In your case, it is very clear that it does not have a positive impact overall. And you already know this, which brings up a very interesting thing, that humans often already know what the right move is or what the right perspective on something is, and then there is a certain unwillingness to fully receive that and accept it and accept the consequences.
When it comes to social media, we believe that is because there has been such a brainwashing, telling people that they need to have this.
This is not true. There are right now billions of people on this planet who have happy lives, or at least lives that are just as happy as the people who do not have social media. And as you may be aware from studies, they might actually be happier when compared to similar peoples in similar situations. So you know all this already.
So this brings up the question, why do you hesitate to take this action? And it comes down to simple reason, and the reason is you want to belong. And because social media is so tied into mass consciousness, it feels that by deleting your accounts, you are further distancing yourself from mass consciousness. Now, this is not true for you have already liberated yourself from mass consciousness in so many different areas. So this is more like a symbolic thing, deleting your accounts, in terms of the mass consciousness aspects.
There are also ways in which social media eats up energys from social media. Now, again, not for everyone, not at all times. Sometimes people do get more energy or support or positive things from social media than it takes out of them. And you yourself have had that experience in the past where many good things have come into your life because of social media, which is part of the reason why you're hesitant to let this go. So part of you clinging on is also because you would like to cling on to that past phase of your life and not acknowledge that you have moved on and also the world has moved on.
We can now see shifts and changes. There used to be a golden age of social media. Not that it didn't have problems, as you all know, but a peak of social media, so to speak. And that peak is over. It is. And it won't come around in your lifetimes in quite the same way.
There is always a need for medias that are social for you as humans are social creatures, and the Internet gives you the unique opportunity to get together with people who are like you or are interested in the same pursuits as you. And there will always be a space for that. So maybe we could call these communal media where you can commune with people. And we encourage you, if you feel drawn to it, to find those communal media spaces together, online spaces together.
And social media—because it is not created around one particular thing that you're interested in—does not give you that. It basically just introduces you to all sorts of people. When in reality, would you want to constantly interact with all sorts of people in physical life? When instead you could connect with people who are on the same wavelength? You probably wouldn't. So why then do you do that with social media?
What you want out of social media, you can better get in what we have now termed communal media. This is media that is around topics or groups. Now, to some extent, maybe Facebook groups or similar groups on social media fulfilled the same aspects, but again, that has... It's just not really working. It's not flowing.
Many people nowadays are seeking for a more enclosed experience where they don't need to present themselves. And that is the difference between social media and communal media. In social media, you present yourself to others. It's really like interacting with the world at large where you put on clothes that give off a certain impression and this or that. Communal media is more like going to a conference about a topic that you're super interested in, and you know that the people who are there are your people.
So it's really up to you to choose what types of experiences you want. And it's not like staying on social media will bring terrible things into your life. It just has an impact on your energy. And you know that it has an impact on your energy. You know this. You are just not fully wanting to see that because that means you need to make changes.
And believe us, this is a positive change. And it will feel good on the other side. You will reclaim a lot of your energy that has been dispersed there, and you can then dedicate that to other things.
So from our perspective in your particular situation, I don't think I need to say more. I think you know which way we're leaning and you know what way you're leaning.
So the only question is, what are you waiting for? And generally, it happens that humans ask us questions and then we're trying to respond to these questions. But now, let us ask you a question. What are you waiting for? Are you waiting for someone's permission? Actually, I think the answer is yes, because deleting social media is, in a way, a liberation from mass consciousness.
There is a lot of fear around that. And you want someone to give you permission to step away. You do not need permission. You were born a free being. And you can make your own decisions. You get to decide what is good for you. And keeping these social media profiles is not good for you. And that's all there is to it, really, and all we need to say to you about this particular subject.
In terms of how it applies to other people? Well, again, everyone is an individual. Other people can read through this and see if things here resonate with them. If it resonates with them, then it's probably true for them as well.
That's all, my friend, and we look forward to speaking to you very, very soon.
My Own Experience With This
This has been my first time channeling for myself in such an open way (where I share the results publicly in a post). Doing so has been a really interesting experience, and I walk away from this channeling session with additional insights.
Here’s what I found most interesting in this channeled session:
The reassurance that I already know the answer to this.
How Social Media ties into mass consciousness, and how that activates our desire to belong (and our fear of isolation).
How Social Media isn’t what it used to be, presumably because mass consciousness isn’t what it used to be.
The idea of Communal Media (I haven’t heard that before and yet, I have plenty of Communal Media spaces in my life—most notably, Discord and Substack).
So, will I delete my Social Media accounts? We shall see. Stay tuned! :)
And, I’d love to hear from you: what is your experience of Social Media? Have you deleted any of your profiles? How was that for you?
I haven't deleted any yet, but I very rarely go on Facebook, only check my personal IG for messages, and don't use my personal Threads account at all (I do use it for my Substack's account). Even before stepping away from FB, I'd added a lot of friction in, such as added the Newsfeed Eradicator extension, and unfollowing almost everyone & page. I could still find them anytime I wanted to, but it took intention and effort.
