From procrastination to progress: next week's complimentary co-working call ✅
We don't have to do this alone.
Hi friend,
One of the most insidious lies of the world we live in is the idea that we can do this thing called life by ourselves.
We believe in this lie while we:
drive vehicles we didn’t build,
on streets we didn’t pave,
with the help of a body that was created within the body of another person.
After having been self-employed for a long time, I’m well aware of the downsides of doing things on one’s own. For many people, it’s just harder to get things done without an external structure or outside input.
Which is why I’m offering a complimentary co-working call next week. 🤗
While this call can be helpful for everyone, I especially recommend it if you are:
self-employed, or
work from home, or
don’t have a lot of structure in your life, or
do better with external accountability.
What can you expect from this call?
We will meet on Tuesday, April 29, at noon Eastern Time.
Our virtual co-working call will run for about an hour, with about 50 minutes of dedicated work time.
During the dedicated work time, people will focus on their individual projects. For instance, one participant might be writing a blog post, another could be drafting an email, while a third person might call realtors (while being muted, of course).
If you would like to be a part of this, all you have to do is show up on the call (there won’t be a recording). It’s best if you can turn on your camera, but no worries if that’s not possible for you.
You can sign up for the call here.
What makes virtual co-working effective?
Often, people find it easier to get stuff done while co-working with others. For instance, back when I was a law student, my friends and I would often meet in the library and sit next to each other while we worked on our individual projects (studying, writing a paper, reviewing, etc.).
It made things a lot more fun.
We didn’t call it co-working back then, but that’s essentially what we were doing (formal co-working calls are a bit more structured to get even better results).
While it’s great to co-work with people in person, it’s also nice to get the same benefits from the comfort of your home (or your hotel room), without needing to commute.
And that’s what we will be doing on our virtual co-working call! Here are some of the benefits you might get:
1. Increased motivation and decreased procrastination
By declaring what we plan to work on during our call, we create an implicit "social contract" for the duration of our co-working time.
As a result, we experience a sense of mutual commitment.
➡️ This increases your motivation to stay on task and decreases procrastination.
2. Reduced distractions and increased concentration
Working simultaneously with others triggers the social facilitation effect (being in the presence of others improves performances).
It also mimics the body doubling effect (working alongside others increases our focus).
➡️ This reduces distractions and improves your concentration.
3. A sense of collaboration and community
Feeling connected to other people on the call can reduce feelings of isolation (which we often experience when we work just by ourselves).
Working on our individual projects in a group creates the sense that “we are all in this together.”
➡️ This creates social connection and community.
Here’s the link again to sign up for the call.
I hope to see you there!
Warmly,
Louise
P.S.: Co-working makes you so productive, it’s almost like sprouting an extra hand. Or at least that’s what this AI image would like you to believe. 😂
Do it for a month, and you’ll practically be an octopus. 🐙
Don’t say I didn’t warn you…
